Dubiny: Nature Park, Orchard and Botanical Garden

Dubiny combines nature experiences, regional history and unique insights into garden and brewing culture. Around the settlement are destinations with very different focuses: Velkopopovicko Nature Park is ideal for relaxation and sports, educational trails lead through nature and history, and an orchard preserves old apple varieties. There is also a private botanical garden in Dubiny and a tour of the Velkopopovický Kozel Brewery.

Nature Park and Educational Trails

Velkopopovicko Nature Park is used by local residents for recreation and sports. Two educational trails also make the landscape a place of discovery: “Through the Land of Josef Lada” and “Through the Landscape of Baron Ringhoffer” provide visitors with information about the nature and history of the region. This allows you to combine different interests when planning your outing without focusing on just one subject.

The “Through the Landscape of Baron Ringhoffer” route offers views of Velkopopovicko Nature Park and the Posázaví landscape. It also includes a tour of the Velkopopovický Brewery. The route thus combines scenic impressions with a cultural attraction. If you would like to spend time outdoors while also learning about regional history, this combination is a distinctive part of the range of experiences around Dubiny.

Orchard South of Dubiny

The Ovocný sad Pod Dubinami orchard is located in Velkopopovicko Nature Park, south of the settlement of Dubiny. It contains 20 standard apple trees of old varieties. This clear specialization makes the site an illustrative stop for anyone interested in traditional fruit varieties and the cultural landscape.

The orchard has a rest area with a bench made from a cherry tree trunk and an information board. The facilities are therefore directly intended for resting and orientation on site. Together with the old apple varieties, they create a distinct and clearly recognizable theme within the nature experiences you can discover around Dubiny.

Botanical Garden and Brewing Culture

The private botanical garden in Dubiny covers 5,000 m². It was founded in 1997; in 2013, the garden was admitted to the Union of Botanical Gardens of the Czech Republic. These details document the garden’s development and clearly distinguish it from the nature-based offerings in the open landscape.

During the tour of the Velkopopovický Kozel Brewery, the brewing process in the current brewhouse is explained. A historic steam brewhouse from 1928 and traditional brewing crafts are also presented. For visitors aged 18 and over, the tour includes a tasting of unfiltered Velkopopovický Kozel. The range of experiences thus extends from landscapes and gardens to traditional brewing craftsmanship.
