Řepín between Church, Castle and Wine Tradition

Řepín combines distinctive buildings, regional wine tradition, and routes through a pronounced valley landscape. The Church of Panny Marie Vítězné and the castle provide the village with a historic focal point, while guided tours at Řepínský vinohrad Štěpán offer a direct insight into local viticulture. Řepín is also located in the vicinity of the Kokořínsko-Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area, but does not form part of its protected area.

The Church of Panny Marie Vítězné was built between 1846 and 1850 on the site of an older church of Saint Andrew documented as early as 1303. It is a two-towered, Neo-Gothic, three-nave church with a presbytery. Regular services are held in the parish Church of Panny Marie Vítězné in Řepín. The church and parish house are located in the upper village centre of Řepín next to the castle. The sacred building and the castle are therefore situated close together and can be viewed together during a walk around the village.

Bus route 696 is relevant for getting there. It regularly serves Řepín on the Mělník – Střemy – Nebužely – Řepín route and on the Kanina – Mšeno route. The two route variants connect the village with Mělník, Střemy, Nebužely, Kanina and Mšeno, providing a concrete basis for planning your journey.

Castle Complex and Local History

Řepín Castle is a two-storey building in the Pseudo-Gothic style, built in the 19th century on the site of an earlier fortress. The protected castle complex in Řepín comprises the castle, a park, farm buildings, the gardener’s house, a barn, a well, as well as walls and gates. At the local school, there is also a memorial to the war victims of Řepín and a memorial to the Národní mstitel partisan group. Both memorials are clearly legible and well maintained. A visit to the village centre thus combines the castle building with preserved parts of the complex and two memorial sites near the school.

Wine and Autumn Tradition

Guided tours at Řepínský vinohrad Štěpán include a walk through the vineyard, a tasting of local wines, and explanations from the owners. Řepínské vinobraní is a traditional autumn event. The tour focuses on the vineyard and its wines, while the Vinobraní connects the annual cycle of the local wine tradition with an autumn festival.

Hiking and Cycling in the Valley Landscape

A blue-marked hiking trail runs through the Řepínský důl and Libeňský důl valleys. It comes from Mělnická Vrutice, runs along the southern edge of Řepín, and continues to Zahájí. Cycling route No. 0008 also runs through the same valley landscape. Both routes therefore use the valley areas but are designated differently: the hiking trail is marked in blue, while the cycling connection is identified by the number 0008. The places Mělnická Vrutice, Řepín and Zahájí help with orientation along the hiking route. Anyone wishing to plan their day around hiking or cycling can consider the two routes separately based on their markings and course.
