Music History and Castle Culture in Nelahozeves

Nelahozeves combines music history, castle culture and trails along the Vltava. The Baroque birthplace of the important Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, located next to Nelahozeves Castle, is a designated national cultural monument. This places a particularly distinctive cultural site right at the heart of the destination.

The castle itself also offers an accessible introduction to Bohemian history. The castle focuses on the history of the nobility, while the birthplace focuses on music and musical education. An installation inspired by the era of Prince Ferdinand Zdeněk of Lobkowicz (1858–1938) presents the life of a noble family in Bohemia at the end of the 19th century in twelve contemporary-period salons. The rooms combine a specific historical era with furnishings that make this way of life comprehensible.

The Antonín Dvořák Birthplace is not only about the composer’s biography. The birthplace offers special music education courses, workshops, concerts, a meditation garden and programmes aimed at enriching the community. Another unusual stop is the Poesiomat in Nelahozeves. The jukebox traces the life story and excerpts from the work of the world-famous composer Antonín Dvořák.

Church of Saint Andrew

The Church of Saint Andrew adds a historic building to Nelahozeves’s cultural profile. It is originally Gothic; its oldest Gothic part is the presbytery. Inside are a Baroque altar and a Gothic sanctuary. Since the beginning of June 2026, regular guided tours with commentary have been held in the historic church, presenting its history and architectural features. Exploring the Vltava

The Dvořákova stezka trail connects Kralupy nad Vltavou with Nelahozeves along the left bank of the Vltava. The route passes through lush vegetation and is lined with tall trees for almost its entire length. A rock massif accompanies it along the entire route; at several points, you can reach the rock directly. Thus, when navigating along the trail, the focus is not only on the two places it connects but also on the landscape, with its distinctive vegetation and rock formations.

For incorporating it into an active itinerary, it is also important that the Dvořákova stezka runs parallel to the red hiking trail and the cycle route from Prague to Dresden. The Nelahozeves Castle Trail, in turn, connects the Nelahozeves castle grounds with the Dvořákova stezka.

At the water, Marina Vltava provides a distinctive attraction of its own. It offers guests mooring spaces for boats, boat rentals and sightseeing cruises.
