Landscape in the White Carpathians

Half of the Poteč municipal area lies within the Bílé Karpaty Protected Landscape Area. As a result, the landscape itself is one of the defining features of the place. Ploštiny is particularly distinctive: at 739 m, it is the highest peak of the White Carpathians in Poteč. The area is considered especially valuable in landscape terms and offers beautiful views, especially of Slovakia. Dělanovec is a small pilgrimage destination located above Poteč in the hills. The Chapel of Panny Marie Královny stands at Dělanovec. The site is also a waypoint on the Via Czechia South Route. A pilgrimage spring lies 300 m to the northeast; a Chapel of Panny Marie is located there. The Via Czechia South Route thus places the site in a broader regional context. Here, a religiously oriented place and a long-distance route come together without requiring you to consider the two aspects separately. Sports opportunities in the village

The multifunctional sports field in Poteč is open to the public daily from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. After reservation, it can be used for tennis, small-sided football, handball, nohejbal, volleyball, and basketball. Ice hockey is also possible when there is sufficient ice formation. The opening hours and the variety of sports give your stay a different rhythm from a purely landscape-focused excursion. If different interests come together in your travel group, the field offers a specific place for active time in the village; ice hockey remains explicitly dependent on sufficient ice formation.

Festivals, crafts, and regional history

A regular date in the local annual calendar is Potečské hody. It takes place regularly on September 28 and begins with a festive Mass at the local chapel. The history of the place is also shaped by practical activities. Earlier livelihoods included agriculture and crop cultivation. In addition, shingles and felt soles for valašské slipper makers were produced at home.

Fruit growing was widespread in Poteč. Apples and plums were dried, and later distilling schnapps was added. A chapel in Poteč also contains paintings by the painter Bohumír Lindauer.
