Lípa – Zelené údolí, cycling paths and history

Lípa combines riverside landscapes, protected nature, cycling, hiking, local history and regional fish specialties. The village is located on the left bank of the Dřevnice River. At the same time, the Zelené údolí protected area encompasses the cadastral territory of Lípa nad Dřevnicí. Those looking for a place with several different opportunities for discovery during their stay will find a clear interplay here between landscape, activity, culture and culinary impressions.

Nature by the River and in Zelené údolí

Lípa’s connection with nature is particularly evident in the Zelené údolí protected area. The protected area encompasses the cadastral territory of Lípa nad Dřevnicí. Its purpose includes the protection of a mineral water spring. The water from this spring contains sulfur as well as hydrogen carbonate and sulfate, calcium and magnesium, and is hypotonic. The Dřevnice marks the village’s riverside setting, while Zelené údolí complements it with a protected natural area and its spring.

Cycling between Zlín and Vizovice

Lípa nad Dřevnicí lies on the main cycling route between Zlín and Vizovice. The Otrokovice–Zlín–Vizovice main cycling route runs along the Dřevnice and Lutoninka rivers and connects the towns and municipalities of the Zlín agglomeration. One section of this route leads from Lužkovice through the cadastral territory of Klečůvka to the municipality of Lípa nad Dřevnicí. Thus, the regional route and the specific section leading to Lípa are clearly distinguished from each other, even though both belong to the Otrokovice–Zlín–Vizovice main cycling route.

Hiking Route and Discoveries in the Village

On foot, the hiking route “[Z] Horní Lhota (bus) – Lípa (ČSA)” leads from Horní Lhota to Lípa. It is 9.2 km long and complements cycling with its own connection between the two villages.

The local history also adds its own distinctive note. The first written mention of Lípa appears in an entry from 1261. In the village landscape, a small chapel is also considered the most beautiful building in the municipality of Lípa. The year therefore belongs to the written history of the village, while the chapel provides a visible landmark in the village landscape.

Fish Specialties and the Sokolovna

At Rybářská bašta Lípa, the menu includes specialties made from freshwater and sea fish, as well as fish soup. Different types of fish dishes and a distinctive soup specialty are therefore at the heart of the regional cuisine there.

Another prominent landmark is Sokolovna Lípa. The Sokolovna includes a hall, a café and a salon, and was reopened after extensive renovation on July 1, 2016. At that time, the 120-seat hall, the 50-seat Sokolovna Café and the 20-seat salon could be rented for sporting, cultural and social events.
