Oldřichovice – History, Church and Trails

Oldřichovice combines an unusually tangible local history with a modern church and a marked trail network for walkers and cyclists. If you would like to combine culture and outdoor activity on your trip, you will find both historical points of interest and practical routes through the countryside here. The village lies in the hills above Malenovice, between Pohořelice and Karlovice.

Local History between Three Cultural Regions

Oldřichovice has been documented in writing since 3 April 1337. In the first half of the 14th century, the village belonged to the Podhradí estate. Local traditions also reflect its location: they were shaped by the transition between Slovácko, Wallachia and Haná. Until 1880, Oldřichovice had its own men's and women's traditional costumes. This distinctive heritage makes the village interesting for anyone who wants to discover not only landscapes but also regional culture while travelling.

The modern Church of St. Zdislava is part of the village's present-day appearance. It was built between 1994 and 1997, consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Josef Hrdlička and designed by the architect Martin Tomešek. The church was also a stop on one stage of the pilgrimage from Štípa to Napajedla. A visit can therefore be viewed not only architecturally but also in the context of a documented pilgrimage route.

Marked Trails for Walking and Cycling

The Stezky napajedelských emirátů are the focus of active outings. The trails are intended for walkers and cyclists, explicitly including mountain bikers. In total, they comprise around 70 km of marked trails with beautiful views. The trail network connects Napajedla with surrounding municipalities, including Oldřichovice, offering various ways to include the village in a longer tour.

Along the Stezky napajedelských emirátů, information boards provide information about interesting destinations such as fortresses, ruins and monuments. This gives a hike or cycling trip a historical dimension in addition to the physical activity. The combination of signposted trails, viewpoints and on-site information is particularly suitable for trip planning in which individual discoveries are more important than simply staying at a single sightseeing destination.

Getting There and Events

Oldřichovice is connected to the railway network via Napajedla, which is 5 km away. Napajedla is located on line 330 between Přerov and Břeclav. By car, the road to Oldřichovice branches off the Class I/55 road between Otrokovice and Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště.

Events also add to the character of the village: Oldřichovice regularly hosts the sports memorial tournament in honour of Miloš Skácel. In addition, the Klub českých turistů Napajedla has announced the 46th K. Janošek New Year's Eve Hiking Day for 31 December 2026.
