Mikulůvka

Mikulůvka lies in a picturesque valley at the eastern foot of the Hostýnské vrchy hills. The Mikulůvka stream flows through the village and empties into the Vsetínská Bečva, while a large part of the area is forested. A marked cycling route runs through Mikulůvka, following the valley along the Mikulůvka stream into the surrounding forests. Another option is the Gurmánská cycling route. It runs from Bystřička via Mikulůvka, Prženské paseky and Pržno, and then once again via Mikulůvka. The route has an elevation gain of 620 metres. Its culinary highlight comes right at the beginning: visitors can sample Wallachian pastries such as frgály at a local bakery.

The Mill and Local Monuments

A particular cultural highlight is Mikulův Mill in the eastern part of Mikulůvka. The complex consists of a residential timber-built section, a newer brick mill building and two stone cellars with wooden superstructures. Mikulův Mill is protected as a cultural monument and is open to the public as an exhibition on the historical development of milling. The mill also serves as a centre for environmental activities. In this way, the site combines architectural history with an exhibition and another way to engage with the region’s natural themes.

The village landscape also features a wooden bell tower dating from 1906, which is considered an important local monument. It has been reconstructed; since 2013, a new bell has rung there. Those interested in living regional traditions will find another example in Valašský krúžek: the group was founded in 1949 and staged theatrical performances as well as ethnographic programmes featuring dance and singing. Kaprobraní, accompanied by an extensive programme, also takes place annually in Mikulůvka.

Mikulůvka offers several clearly distinct options for sporting variety. The outdoor swimming pool has a small and a large pool, offers beach volleyball and includes a snack bar. Locals and tourists can visit the Mikulůvka sports complex during the season; there they can try tennis, basketball and other sports. The complex includes a sports hall and a multi-purpose court with tennis, nohejbal and volleyball courts. Depending on your preferred daily pace, you can combine nature and cultural experiences with swimming, ball games or cycling.
