Hutisko-Solanec lies in the foothills of the Beskydy Mountains. This area stretches from the valley of the Solanecký potok at 450 m to the summit of Tanečnice at 911 m. Road II/481 is also important for getting around the area: it crosses the municipality and leads from Prostřední Bečva via Soláň to Velké Karlovice.

This makes Hutisko Solanec an interesting starting point for a trip combining nature, activities, water and regional history. Which accommodation suits you depends mainly on whether you want to focus on the landscape, cycling tours, culture or a stay with swimming and other facilities.

Poskla Nature Monument and Landscape

A notable natural site is the “Poskla” Nature Monument, about 1 km north of the centre of Hutisko-Solanec. The Poskla Nature Monument consists of three separate areas: Poskla I, Poskla II and Poskla III. They are located in the Vigantická pahorkatina within the Rožnovská brázda, at an elevation of 495 to 565 m.

Cycling, Winter Sports and Outdoor Swimming Pool

Hutisko-Solanec is also associated with a variety of active pursuits. The surrounding area has 300 km of cycle routes, mostly running along field and forest paths. One specific option is the “Na umělci políbenou Soláň” cycling tour. It runs through Hutisko-Solanec from Vigantice to the Soláň ridge.

For winter trip planning, Hutisko-Solanec has four locations with ski lifts and many cross-country skiing trails. Another attraction is the “Koupaliště Hutisko-Solanec” outdoor swimming pool, which has a newly renovated 50-metre pool and a smaller children’s pool. The swimming pool complex also includes a campsite for tents and caravans, a playground, sand tennis courts and a children’s corner.

Firefighting History, Monument and Tradition

The “Hasičské muzeum” displays historical firefighting equipment from local and surrounding fire brigades. One of the special exhibits is a fire engine pump from the workshop of the Pařík brothers. It has been owned by the local fire brigade since 1933 and is still operational.

Further cultural points of interest include the “Památník Charlotty Garrigue Masarykové” monument and the masonry church in Hutisko-Solanec. The monument consists of a sandstone block with a plaque and a bust of Charlotta Masaryková on the front. The masonry church was built in 1748 after the previous wooden church burned down, replacing the earlier building. Dožínky, a harvest festival, is also traditionally celebrated in Hutisko-Solanec, adding a seasonal occasion to the local traditions.
