Prasklice between rolling hills and Křéby

Prasklice lies on gentle slopes in a varied hilly landscape with low ridges and basin-shaped valleys. The Švábský potok stream flows through the village and joins the Tištínka. Křéby is particularly distinctive: the site is both a national nature monument and a Bronze Age hillfort. The archaeological site is a fortified elevated settlement of the Únětice-Věteřov type dating from approximately 2000 to 1500 BC. In Prasklice, landscape, archaeology and religious tradition thus come together within a compact thematic area.

Church, museum and rural architecture

An important cultural landmark is the parish church of St. Anne. It developed from a chapel built in 1852 and consecrated in 1857. Between 1872 and 1891, the chapel was converted into the present-day church. The interior contains Hromádek's 1854 painting of Saint Anne, as well as murals by František Šenar from 1908.

A second focal point is the municipal museum “Horákův statek”, which opened on 10 May 2025. The ethnological exhibition explores the history of Prasklice and the everyday life of earlier generations. Exhibits include a classroom, parts of the original church furnishings, traditional crafts and household objects. An archaeological and natural-history exhibition also focuses on the important Křéby site. This makes it possible to combine a visit to the nature monument with a deeper exploration of its history.

Several preserved farmsteads also form part of the village landscape. They showcase the vernacular architecture of Haná; many buildings retain original handcrafted details such as windows, doors, gates and façade mouldings. Anyone interested in regional architectural styles will find not an abstract overview here, but tangible traces on the houses themselves.

Cycling, pilgrimage and routes to Křéby

Prasklice lies on the Morkovice–Nezamyslice cycling route. The route runs via Uhřice, Prasklice and Koválovice to Nezamyslice. The asphalted section is 11.6 km long, two metres wide and suitable for travel in both directions; it is suitable for cyclists and inline skaters.

A farm track leads from the cycling route to Křéby. The site can be reached on foot or by bicycle. A Way of the Cross with wooden crosses also leads to the pilgrimage site. The Prasklice parish organises Fatima pilgrimages to Křéby. This allows the same landscape to be experienced from different perspectives: as an archaeological site, a nature monument and a religiously significant destination.

Tastings and local traditions

The local events calendar includes PRAGULÁŠ, a recurring competition in cooking goulash in a cauldron, accompanied by a public tasting. In 2024, 12 teams competed and many visitors attended. PRAKOŠT is a recurring tasting of slivovitz and fruit spirits; in 2024, its eighth edition featured 36 samples. Both events highlight different aspects of the local food and drink culture.

Community competitions are also part of village life. The “Prasklický železný hasič” competition was held for the 13th time in 2024. The traditional Prasklice Masopust custom “Vodění medvěda” is also documented for 2026. However, a date of 14 February has not been confirmed. Fishing permits for Prarybník can be purchased exclusively at the Prasklice municipal office.
