Discover Těchobuz

Těchobuz combines a historic village center with educational trails, castle heritage, and experiences in the surrounding landscape. The village can be explored particularly vividly via the Po pamětihodnostech Těchobuze educational trail: it consists of two circular routes, offering different ways to discover the sights. The shorter circular route leads through the village and provides insights into historic buildings. This means that discovering the village does not begin with a mere collection of individual buildings, but with a route that connects the history of Těchobuz directly with the village.

Educational Trails for Culture and Landscape

The Po pamětihodnostech Těchobuze educational trail represents the cultural side of the village. Its themes include historic buildings and places of remembrance revealed along the circular routes. For a stay focused on history, this trail provides a clear thread, while the second educational trail has a different focus. The Mozaikou krajiny educational trail connects Těchobuz with Kozák Pond via a blue-marked hiking trail. It is 2.5 kilometers long and presents the local fauna and flora, as well as the Pacov Uplands, on six information panels. In this way, it complements the cultural and historical village route with a natural-history perspective. Anyone wishing to alternate between buildings, landscape, and regional features on an outing will find two independent themed trails here, with clearly distinct content.

Castle, Bolzano, and Preserved Architectural Heritage

Těchobuz Castle is based on a fortress dating from the 14th century. The castle is also connected with the history of Bernardo Bolzano, who stayed at Těchobuz Castle from 1823 to 1848. The Bernardo Bolzano Gallery is located in a former castle barn. Its cellar and original supporting structures have been preserved. The site thus combines a surviving architectural trace of the castle with the memory of a personality who was particularly influential in Těchobuz. Bolzano's Spring is also part of this connection. Bernardo Bolzano used the spring for work and relaxation. From Těchobuz Castle, Bolzano's Spring can be reached via the Po pamětihodnostech Těchobuze educational trail. According to local legend, Bolzano found the Hoffmanns' lost daughter there. The spring is therefore both a historic place of remembrance and the setting of a local tradition.

Churches, Chapel, and Vernacular Architecture

One of the notable buildings is the former school in Těchobuz. The representative Neoclassical building was constructed in 1823 at the urging of Bernard Bolzano. The Cemetery Church of Saint Mark is a single-nave Gothic church first mentioned as early as 1338. A distinctive early Baroque renovation gave it its present appearance. The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk was built in 1826 as a cemetery chapel in the Empire style. Its circular ground plan clearly distinguishes it from the cemetery church. At the same time, the chapel served as the Hoffmann family crypt. Another remarkable building is the polygonal, drive-through timber-framed barn. It is considered an example of vernacular architecture and a rare architectural monument of its type in the Vysočina Region; it was completely reconstructed in 2013 and 2014.

Castle Park and Other Local Sights

Těchobuz Castle Park is a 19th-century landscape park. A central hornbeam avenue and an irregular network of paths define its layout. The park thus expands the historic village setting with a deliberately designed landscape.
