Hribeci – Discover the Brickworks, Ponds and Culture
Hříběcí between Brickworks, Ponds and Living Tradition
Hříběcí combines an impressive industrial monument with ponds, paths and regional cultural events. The former Cihelna Hříběcí brickworks on the eastern edge of Hříběcí, near the road from Horní Cerekev to Kamenice nad Lipou, is particularly distinctive. The well-preserved brickworks convey an impression of the town’s former traditional brick production. They comprise an elongated building in which bricks were dried and fired. The kilns release their fumes through an approximately 16 m high brick chimney.
Cihelna Hříběcí offers guided tours of the historic brickworks. This means that the focus is not only on the building’s external appearance, but also on its former function. It provides you with an illustrative insight into a craft that visibly shaped the locality.
Culture and Events in the Locality
The local traditions also give Hříběcí its own character. The traditional Masopustní průvod in Hříběcí was held again after a longer break. This represents a cultural theme distinct from the history of the brickworks and connects the locality with an inherited festive tradition.
Another specific cultural experience was the performance of the play “DVEŘE” on 4 April 2025 at Hříběcká hospoda in Hříběcí. The play was written by Jan Zindulka and performed as amateur theatre by Hříběcké divadýlko. In the wider surrounding region, Svatá Anna, a church, and Orlík, a ruin, are also among the culturally significant destinations.
Ponds and Walking Paths for a Varied Day
There are four ponds in Hříběcí. The large Horní Martínkův rybník is connected to Malý Martinkův rybník, making the bodies of water a characteristic part of the locality. An asphalt path runs around Návesní rybník and is suitable for an interesting family walk. This allows you to combine your stay with a walk by the water without presenting the locality as the starting point for an unverified hiking route.
The banks of Horní rybník offer beautiful, romantic views of Hříběcí. Holubcův rybník has a different character, as it is a private fishing pond in Hříběcí. The different bodies of water thus represent various aspects of the locality: a path for a family walk, views of Hříběcí and a clearly designated private fishing pond.
Mountains and Ruins in the Surrounding Area
Several mountains are located around Hříběcí: Bražský kopec, Strahovice, Rácovský lísek and Kozí hřbet. In addition, Janštejn is a ruin in the vicinity of Hříběcí. These destinations broaden the view beyond the town centre, while the historic brickworks and ponds directly illustrate Hříběcí’s distinctive history and landscape.
