Zvěstovice between a valley, a ridge and an old regional route

Zvěstovice combines a distinctive landscape with a history dating back to the 16th century. The village lies in a valley below a nearby ridge of the Železné hory. At the same time, Zvěstovice was founded along an old regional route known as the Liběnická Trail. Visitors to the village therefore encounter not only a landscape, but also a place whose development is closely connected with historic roads and regional links.

A concise local history spanning several periods

The first written mention of Zvěstovice dates from 1557. Historically, the village was owned by Vilémovský Monastery. Both details offer different approaches to the past: the year marks the early written record, while the connection with the monastery places Zvěstovice within broader historical ecclesiastical and manorial contexts. The Liběnická Trail adds the history of transportation to this picture. Zvěstovice developed along an old regional route – the village’s history can therefore also be understood through the roads that connected it with its surroundings.

Memorial sites in the village

One of the specific historical points of reference in Zvěstovice is a monument to those who fell in the First World War. It commemorates the people from the village who lost their lives in the war and establishes a clear memorial point within local history.

The Protestant cemetery with a chapel has a special religious and social significance. It was built jointly by Reformed and Lutheran Christians in 1862–1863. This history is more than a date: it shows that the cemetery and its chapel arose from the joint efforts of two Protestant traditions. For a tour of Zvěstovice, the site therefore offers an independent historical focus, distinct from the older regional route and the war memorial.

Zvěstovice as a stage stop for a cycling tour

Cyclists can also place Zvěstovice within a longer route. The Mladotice–Spytice cycling route, described on 26 June 2009, passes through Zvěstovice as a stage stop. The village is therefore not merely an individual sightseeing destination, but part of a connection between Mladotice and Spytice. When planning a cycling tour, Zvěstovice can thus be considered a stop along this route, combining the village’s historic points with the landscape impression of the valley below the ridge of the Železné hory.

For travel to the village, regional bus route 603171 connects Golčův Jeníkov and Třemošnice via Zvěstovice. Thus, in addition to the cycling route described above, a specific bus connection is also linked with the village. Zvěstovice can be explored above all through its landscape, local history, memorial sites and the documented cycling stage.
