Chrtníč
Accommodation in Chrtníč
Chrtníč combines a distinctive stream with a multifaceted local history and a field path that leads to agriculturally characterized areas, an isolated settlement and a historic church. This makes it a destination in the Czech Republic where nature, history and local community life are presented not separately, but through closely interconnected themes.
The Radinovka shapes the village
The Radinovka stream divides Chrtníč into two parts. At the same time, it is a right-bank tributary of the Sázavka River.
Chrtníč covers a total of 661 hectares, of which 150 hectares are covered by forests. In addition to the stream, forest areas and agriculturally used land are therefore also part of the documented landscape character. Those choosing accommodation in Chrtníč will thus find a place whose distinctive features lie above all in the combination of settlement, watercourse, forest and open cultivated landscape.
Field Path C2 connects landscape and history
Field Path C2 provides a specific point of orientation. It is just under 1.0 km long, begins in the settled area of the municipality of Chrtníč and provides access to the surrounding agricultural land. Its route also leads to the isolated settlement of Radinov and to the Church of Saint Bartholomew with the local cemetery. The field path thus connects several different points of reference in the area: the present-day settlement, the cultivated landscape, an individual settlement and a historic religious building.
Radinov is also known as Radoňov and was originally a village with a fortress and a rectory. The preserved Church of Saint Bartholomew stands on the site of this former village of Radinov. For visitors who want to understand not only a single building but also its historical context during their stay, this connection to the place is one of Chrtníč’s noteworthy details.
A church of medieval origin
The early Gothic Church of Saint Bartholomew in Radinov was consecrated to Saint Bartholomew around 1250. Its history therefore reaches significantly further back than the first written mention of Chrtníč in the Land Registers in 1391. Chrtníč itself was established at the beginning of the 14th century as part of the colonization activities of Vilémov Monastery. Taken together, these dates provide a differentiated picture: the church points to an even earlier medieval period, while the founding of the settlement and the written record of Chrtníč become tangible in different historical stages.
Traditions in community life
In addition to its landscape and historical themes, Chrtníč also has regularly held community events. These include balls. A Masopust procession is also held regularly, and a maypole is regularly erected in Chrtníč. These events provide the village with recurring occasions for public life and complement the quieter historical points of reference around Radinov and the church.
Sunday services in the branch church of Saint Bartholomew are listed at 3:00 p.m. in winter and 4:00 p.m. in summer. You should take the different times into account when planning if attending the service is part of your stay.
