St. Lawrence Church and the Bell Tower

St. Lawrence Church is Čachotín’s most important monument. It has a Baroque appearance with vernacular elements and Gothic foundations. The church also contains the burial site of the Barons Bechyně von Lažany, dating from 1833. These details give the church a specific historical depth that extends beyond its outward appearance alone.

Čachotín has preserved the original village buildings around the village square, with St. Lawrence Church standing at its center. A freestanding, multi-storey bell tower stands east of the church. It was built around the middle of the 19th century in the Pseudo-Romanesque style and has a pyramidal roof with a dormer for the clock. The church and bell tower were declared cultural monuments by the state in 1964.
