Church and History in Hněvkovice

The complex of the Church of St. Bartholomew includes a bell tower, the grounds of a former cemetery, the ruins of what was probably a former mortuary, and a stone perimeter wall with a gate. The individual elements make the historical character of the place tangible without requiring you to limit your attention to a single building. The combination of a sacred building, cemetery grounds and remains of the former complex makes the historical structure comprehensible as a cohesive ensemble. The year 1262 offers another historical reference point: King Přemysl Otakar II elevated Hněvkovice to a market village at that time.

The Želivka vineyards were established in April 2014. Vineyard tours and wine tastings are available there by arrangement. Hiking Routes with Clearly Defined Distances

The 13th edition of the Pochod Prokletým údolím hiking event was announced for 5 September 2026 in Hněvkovice. Four routes were planned: the Hněvkovská is 10 km long, the Želivská and Sázavská are each 14 km, and the Želivsko-sázavská is 23 km. The start was scheduled to take place at the Hněvkovice municipal office. The different distances give you a clear initial point of reference when choosing, without claiming any additional assessment of difficulty or trail conditions. The range from 10 to 23 kilometres helps you gauge the desired route length; the two 14-kilometre routes offer the same distance.
