Kraborovice

Kraborovice combines a specific cycling experience with small but noteworthy cultural sites. The cycling route from Golčův Jeníkov to Třemošnice passes through the village. Those wishing to combine their trip with cultural discoveries will also find several historic sights in the village itself and in Úhrov, whose visiting conditions vary considerably.

Hilly cycling route through Kraborovice

The route from Golčův Jeníkov to Třemošnice is hilly and of moderate difficulty. It passes through Kraborovice and is suitable for both road bikes and trekking bikes.

Chateau and chapel in Úhrov

Úhrov is home to a small Baroque chateau built at the beginning of the 18th century. The building is privately owned and is currently not open to the public. It is therefore not suitable as a regularly accessible sightseeing destination; its significance lies in its documented architectural history and distinct Baroque character.

The Chapel of Saint Anthony in Úhrov offers a different type of visit. It belongs to the municipality of Kraborovice and was commissioned by František Vltavský, the then owner of the Úhrov estate. The chapel is open to the public on various festive occasions.

Another distinctive feature of Úhrov is a replica of a medieval castle rampart. It complements the village’s historic sights with a representation of medieval fortifications, creating a different focus from the Baroque chateau or the chapel.

Village Museum and Monuments

The Kraborovice Village Museum is located in the municipal office building. The premises therefore serve two functions: they house the municipal administration and the village museum. Visits are possible by appointment with municipal representatives. Anyone interested in the history of the village should take this appointment-based arrangement into account when planning, as visiting the museum requires prior agreement.

Úhrov is also home to the late Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk with its vaulted bridge. The statue dates from 1770 and was declared a cultural monument in the fourth quarter of 2019. It is also regarded as an impressive landscape-defining feature and an example of popular piety. It thus combines art-historical significance, religious tradition and a visible influence on the appearance of the village.

Another historic trace is the replacement linden tree planted in Úhrov in 2013. It has once again received protected status as a protected commemorative tree. Around the Úhrov linden are information panels featuring photographs and the history of the original Úhrov linden. The panels explicitly refer to the original linden, while the protected replacement linden itself was planted in 2013.
