Sněžné combines art, two churches and varied trails with the landscape of the Žďárské vrchy Protected Landscape Area. Here, you can discover cultural highlights right in the town and combine your exploration with a walk, a longer route or an active session at the pump track.

Art and distinctive townscapes

A special attraction is the Sněžné Gallery, a year-round sales gallery for paintings in a historic house on the square in Sněžné. It was founded in 1997 by painters Jan Odvárka, Rudolf Němec and Pavel Mertlík. In addition to paintings, it hosts exhibitions by artists, author readings and other art events. This allows you to combine a visit to the town with changing cultural impressions.

Two churches with different characteristics are part of the town's history and townscape. The Church of the Holy Cross was built in Sněžné in the mid-18th century. The walk around Sněžné passes the Baroque-renovated church. The Evangelical Church in Sněžné was last redesigned inside in 1994 based on a design by Ostrava artist Daniel Balabán and is a distinctive landmark of the town and its surroundings.

Japanese garden and quiet discoveries

An unusual attraction is the Japanese rock garden in Sněžné. For years, it has been laid out by teacher Pavel Šimon in the spirit of Buddhist and Shinto traditions. The garden consists of a dry area and a wet area; two Japanese dragons guard it. Visitors can also see a bonsai exhibition there and buy bonsai trees, bonsai pots and ceramics. This creates a peaceful contrast to the more active trails and the pump track.

The site of the former cemetery also holds a cultural and historical detail to discover: iron grave crosses made in the workshops of Kadov and Milovy can be seen there. Sněžné's cultural details include art, religious buildings and regional craft traditions.

Walking trails, rock formations and pump track

The approximately nine-kilometre walking trail around Sněžné partly follows the local educational trail “S Kvíčalou za humna” and passes the Church of the Holy Cross. If you are looking for a longer route through the landscape, you can follow the Sněženská Trasa. It is 42 kilometres long and begins on the square in Sněžné. Its destinations include the rock formations Devět skal, Malinská skála, Dráteničky and Čtyři palice.

For an active change of pace, Sněžné Pumptrack is located behind the Evangelical Church. It is one of the largest pump tracks in the region and can be used with bicycles, skateboards and kick scooters. This means that, alongside its historical and artistic impressions, Sněžné also offers a clear activity spot that you can include in your day plan.
