Ludvíkovice between Nature Experiences and Local History

Ludvíkovice combines a varied landscape with trails, historical traces and special insights into the history of the village. If you would like to combine your stay with experiences in nature and small discoveries, the Zvířátková Trail provides a clear starting point. The protected landscape areas within the municipality, the Labe River and the wooded sandstone cliffs of Růžový hřeben add to the experience.

The Zvířátková Trail as an Experience Trail

The Zvířátková Trail is an interactive educational trail through the nature of Ludvíkovice. Two routes of different lengths are available for planning your visit: The shorter route is 4 km long and takes approximately 2 hours. The longer route is about 7 km long, leads to Sluneční brána and takes approximately 4 hours.

At stations 1 to 7 of the Zvířátková Trail, there are signs with QR codes for the audio guide. The trail therefore combines observing nature with additional information provided directly at the individual stations. During a stay in Ludvíkovice, the trail can be included in your daily plans as a shorter excursion or as a longer tour to Sluneční brána.

Landscape along the Labe

The municipality of Ludvíkovice lies on the edge of the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. Most of the municipality lies within the Labské pískovce Protected Landscape Area. The Labe River forms the western boundary of the municipality. Along this western boundary, the Růžový hřeben rises above the Labe, with sandstone cliffs and continuous woodland.

Historical Traces in the Village

Ludvíkovice was first mentioned in 1425 under the name Ludwigsdorf, and later as Loosdorf. At the intersection of a Class I road and a Class III road, there has been a monument to Dr. Kudlich for more than 100 years. He campaigned for the abolition of the corvée obligation.

Further evidence of the past can be found at various locations throughout the village. The remains of a fortification are situated on a spur above a quarry overlooking the Loubský stream in the southeastern part of the village. The cemetery in Ludvíkovice also contains a monument made from old gravestones and gravestone fragments, including plaques and inscriptions. The Ludvíkovice Cultural Centre has table tennis on its programme on Thursdays and Sundays from 5 p.m.

Routes and Orientation

On the outskirts of Ludvíkovice, the Hřebenovka leads to a monument commemorating the victims of both world wars. The Hřebenovka runs along a section of woodland around Ludvíkovice, thereby connecting a forest section with a place of remembrance.
