Noldenteich Pond and the Landscape

Noldenteich Pond is designated as a natural monument in the cadastral area of Kunratice u České Kamenice. In the Lusatian Mountains, it is the richest site of the specially protected round-leaved sundew (Drosera rotundifolia). The pond has natural shoreline vegetation as well as bog, sedge, alder and boggy spruce stands. The combination of water, bog and forest draws attention to different aspects of the landscape. Chapels, Cross and Local History

The newly built Bauer Chapel is a religious landmark on a road above Kunratice. It stands at a site where a chapel had already stood since 1782. The year refers to the site's history and gives the present-day chapel a clear historical connection.

The Zeckert Cross commemorates Christian Zeckert, the local judge of Studený, who died there in 1735 after falling from a horse. The restored Zeckert Cross can be visited. The two sites offer different historical perspectives: Bauer Chapel is linked to the history of the site, while the Zeckert Cross is linked to the fate of Christian Zeckert.

Traditional Events

In Kunratice, a traditional witch-burning event was announced for April 30, 2025, and another for April 30, 2026, each to be held at the municipal sports field. The two dates complement the natural and cultural themes with a local custom.
