Třeboň II: History, Moor and Trails

Třeboň combines a distinctive history with exhibitions, moor treatment, viewpoints and trails through the countryside. This allows you to shape your stay around different interests: culture and historical impressions, a family-oriented educational exhibition, a hike around Svět Pond, a cycling tour or a glimpse into the city’s brewing tradition.

History and Discoveries at the Chateau

Třeboň was particularly shaped by the fact that the town was the winter residence of the Schwarzenbergs from 1895 to 1922. This period provides a specific point of reference for a stay in which you would like to get to know the character of the city not only through its landscape and leisure activities, but also through its history.

The Třeboňsko House of Nature is located in Třeboň Chateau. The visitor centre provides information about educational trails as well as natural and tourist attractions in the Třeboňsko region. It is therefore suitable as a starting point for anyone who does not want to limit their discoveries to a single visit, but would like to explore various aspects of the surrounding area.

The Štěpánek Netolický House also features an interactive, wheelchair-accessible educational exhibition. It is aimed primarily at children, but is also interesting for adults. For families, it therefore offers its own cultural focus, combining shared discovery with clear explanations.

Moor Treatment, Views and Brewing Tradition

A moor treatment is one of the special experiences in Třeboň. It lasts 15 minutes and is followed by a shower and rest while wrapped in a dry covering. This precisely structured process distinguishes the treatment from an ordinary short stay and creates a separate focus for quieter hours.

Those who would like to see the city from an elevated perspective can visit the 31-metre-high, square Old Town Hall Tower. Its gallery offers views of Třeboň and the green and blue landscape. The tower thus combines a historic building with a tangible impression of the surrounding landscape.

The Bohemia Regent Brewery is also one of the rewarding places to visit. It offers tours of its brewing facilities in Třeboň. In its cellar, you can also taste unfiltered and unpasteurised beer. The tour and tasting have different focuses: the former centres on the brewing facilities, while the latter focuses on the beer itself.

Hiking around Svět Pond and Cycling

The “Journey around the World” educational trail is suitable for an active day. It is designed for hiking and follows a circular route around Svět Pond. Rest areas with benches are included, as are bridges and boardwalks in more difficult sections. This makes the trail an experience in its own right, with different path conditions forming part of the route.

The “Cycling Around Třeboň” cycling tour offers a different perspective. It leads via Nová Hlína and past the Kotěra waterworks into the centre of Třeboň. The cycling tour therefore complements the circular trail around Svět Pond with a route connecting Nová Hlína and the Kotěra waterworks with the centre of Třeboň.
