Cultural History in Lišov

At Schwarzenberský špitál, the history begins with a specific date: Jan Adolf Schwarzenberg founded the building on 2 September 1676. It served retired servants of the princely household. Today, Schwarzenberský špitál has rooms for exhibitions, cultural events, lectures and educational programmes. The Muzeum F. M. Čapka is located in the right wing. The museum presents traditional Lišov crafts such as carpentry, shoemaking, rope-making and joinery. The Jana Rafaela Schustera Gallery is also located in Schwarzenberský špitál.

Another prominent cultural site is the Kostel sv. Václava church in Lišov. It is a Neo-Romanesque church built between 1862 and 1865 and was consecrated in 1864 by Bishop J. V. Jirsík. For your planning, it is also relevant that the church is open year-round and can be visited free of charge.

Hiking, Cycling and Special Places

The marked, 12-kilometre hiking route “Putování krajem malíře J. R. Schustera na Locus perennis” runs through Lišov. Locus perennis in Lišov is the only one of the original nine fundamental elevation points in Austria-Hungary. A car park is available a few metres from the main road for visitors to Locus perennis.

There is also a clearly designated starting point for a cycling tour: the Lišovská cyklistická trasa begins at a car park by the Coop in Lišov. The route has a medium level of physical difficulty. This allows you to distinguish between a 12-kilometre hiking route and a cycling tour with its own difficulty rating when planning, without equating the two activities.

Outdoor activities also include the Rybník Koníř pond in Lišov. In summer, it is used as a swimming lake and can be reached from Lišov via a paved road. The Panny Marie Lourdské chapel, consecrated on 5 July 1896, is located near the pond.

Events Throughout the Year

The Lišovské slavnosti takes place every year on the second weekend of September. The Adventní odpoledne is held every year on the first Sunday of Advent. In the local area around Lišov, three to four sailing competitions of national or regional importance also take place every year at Dvořiště pond. This means that the annual calendar offers different reasons to plan a trip in late summer, during Advent or around the sailing competitions.
