Kvítkovice between ponds and village history

Kvítkovice is a place where the landscape, paths and preserved evidence of local history are closely interconnected. If you are planning a stay in Kvítkovice and are looking for a hotel, you will find a variety of options for your days here: protected nature, water, hiking and horse-riding trails, cycle routes, as well as chapels, farmsteads, a forge and a historic mill.

Landscape around Kvítkovice

Kvítkovice lies within the Blanský les Protected Landscape Area. A prominent feature of the surrounding area is the 25-hectare Kvítkovický Pond, which is used for fish farming. It lies on the upper reaches of the Dehtářský Brook. The pond creates a clear connection with the water, while the Nový mlýn mill stands below its dam. Thus, protected landscape, a body of water and a historic building come together in a specific part of the village surroundings.

Hiking, horse riding and cycling

Hiking trails run through the Kvítkovice area. There is also a horse-riding trail through the area. For cycling, cycle routes No. 1194 and 1092 meet in Kvítkovice. The two route numbers give cyclists a specific reference point for identifying the local cycle routes. The hiking and horse-riding trails complement this focus with routes for travelling on foot and horseback. When planning your day, the hiking trails, horse-riding trail and cycle routes can provide different activity options. The network connects different ways of crossing the area, without implying any particular route length or level of difficulty.

Chapels and history in the village scenery

The first written records of Kvítkovice date back to 1263. The farmsteads also preserve historic structures: the original building fabric of the Kvítkovice farmsteads, with their gable ends oriented towards the village green, has largely been preserved. The farmsteads therefore preserve a spatial arrangement, not merely individual historic building parts. The orientation of the gable ends towards the village green is thus part of the historic structure of the farmsteads. At the crossroads towards Habří and Dubné stands the Baroque wayside chapel, dating from 1730.

The pseudo-Gothic Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary, St Joseph and St Vojtěch dates from 1902. The two chapels represent different architectural forms and periods of origin: the Baroque wayside chapel from 1730 and the pseudo-Gothic chapel from 1902. The village scenery therefore features Baroque and pseudo-Gothic design from different centuries.

The local history also includes the historic forge in Kvítkovice, dating from 1823, which is now used as a restaurant and is designated as a cultural landmark of the village. Below the dam of Kvítkovický Pond stands the Nový mlýn mill, with its original mill wheel and mill race preserved. Thus, alongside chapels and farmsteads, Kvítkovice also has a historic craft building and a mill with preserved technical equipment.
