Frauenberg: Culture, Nature and Family Experiences

For planning your trip around Frauenberg, you can enjoy a varied combination of culture, riverside landscapes and activities to share. Historic sites, museums, paths along the Vltava, as well as sporting and recreational activities offer various ways to explore the area. Depending on your interests, you can combine cultural impressions, outdoor exercise and special experiences.

Castles, Museums and Art

With its size, character, preserved original furnishings and extensive park, Státní zámek Hluboká nad Vltavou is a significant Romantic complex in a European and global context. A visit to the castle therefore combines architectural impressions and parkland to create a distinctive cultural highlight.

Národní zemědělské muzeum Ohrada is Europe's oldest hunting museum. As early as 1842, the first collections of hunting trophies and taxidermy specimens were displayed there in the Baroque Ohrada Castle. Today, the museum offers exhibitions on hunting and fishing, freshwater aquariums, the Sallač collection of antlers and falconry, as well as impressive interiors of the hunting lodge. The different areas make this a versatile stop for anyone who wants to learn more about nature, history and regional culture.

Alšova jihočeská galerie is the only art museum in the Jihočeský kraj and adds an independent artistic perspective to the cultural focus. The castle, hunting museum and gallery each provide a different emphasis during a stay.

Vltava, Walking Paths and Cycling Routes

Vltavská pěší stezka is an easy, short circular trail in a bend of the Vltava. Local nature and culture are presented at 17 stops. The manageable trail combines exercise with short points of interest and clear orientation along the river. This allows you to combine a walk with observing nature and making cultural discoveries.

Hluboká Park is located on the Vltava and offers views of Hluboká nad Vltavou Castle. For cycling, you can choose between the Hluboká nad Vltavou–České Budějovice and Hluboká nad Vltavou–Purkarec sections. The two directions make it easier to choose a suitable option for your day's plans and experience the landscape beyond a castle visit.

Active Experiences for Different Interests

Hluboká Zoo covers just under 5 hectares and includes more than 15 unique enclosures and exhibits. Animals from various regions and their habitats are presented there. The zoo's size offers numerous different impressions in one place.

At Adrenalin Park, a climbing centre with 23 obstacles awaits at a height of 8 metres. Adventure mini-golf, on the other hand, features 18 holes of varying difficulty, simple rules and a family-friendly game. This places a more physically demanding climbing experience alongside a playful activity with easier access.

Another distinctive activity is Ferrata Hluboká, with 720 metres of horizontal climbing and dozens of metres of vertical climbing. It is considered the longest Czech via ferrata above the water level of a river. The combination of horizontal and vertical sections defines the character of this special adventure.

Hluboká Park offers a varied selection of activities for families with children, friends and corporate groups. At Farma Stará Obora, group meetings are organised at Seník, where you can get to know the animals up close. You can also include Jeznice in your travel plans as another place to explore.
