Kamenná between Landscape and History

Kamenná is a destination for travellers who want to combine landscape and culture. In the village and its immediate surroundings, a six-kilometre nature trail, viewpoints, a historic settlement structure and important cultural monuments come together. The area is also home to the Staročeská koleda carnival tradition, which takes place regularly during the carnival season. Nature Trail, Views and Humanists

The Krajinou humanity nature trail leads through varied terrain around Chvalkov, Kamenná, Kondrač and Slavče. The six-kilometre route gives the walk a manageable scope and connects several places in the landscape. On seven information boards, the trail introduces seven important humanists from around the world. This means that observing nature and exploring cultural topics are part of the same route. At 682 metres, Kondračská hora is one of the viewpoints along the Krajinou humanity nature trail. From a viewpoint on Kondračská hora, in favourable weather conditions you can see the České Budějovice Basin, the Třeboň Basin and the Novohrad Mountains. The view complements the varied terrain with a wide panorama of the surrounding basins and mountains.

Routes around Kamenná

KČT Route 1128 runs along Road III/1546 from Chvalkov to Kamenná. KČT Route 1191 runs along the same road from Kamenná to Rychnov u Nových Hradů. Thus, one section leads from the direction of Chvalkov to Kamenná, while the other continues along the road towards Rychnov u Nových Hradů. Cultural Monuments and Regional Tradition

In the settlement of Kondrač, which belongs to the municipality of Kamenná, stands the Church of the Holy Trinity, kostel Nejsvětější Trojice in Czech. It is considered an important cultural monument; its furnishings are largely Neo-Gothic and date from 1866–1868. In the immediate surroundings of Kamenná, on the eastern side of Kamenská hora, stands the Zaječí pramen Chapel, built in the South Bohemian Folk Baroque style. The route to it starts in Žumberk; before Kamenná, it branches off from the blue-marked trail. This makes it possible to include the chapel in an exploration of the cultural landscape between Žumberk and Kamenná.

Village Character, Carnival and Bus Connection

The settlement of Kamenná was a typical old German settlement with two rows of farmsteads along a road approximately 600 metres long. This village character gives the historic character a tangible spatial framework. During the carnival season, the Staročeská koleda takes place regularly in Kamenná. On weekdays, a bus service with 14 departures connects Kamenná with Trhové Sviny and Rychnov u Nových Hradů. Alongside the routes and sights, the regional transport connection is therefore also part of the character of the village.
