Diwtschitz: Zbudovské Blat and Kubata Monument

Diwtschitz between wetlands and history

Diwtschitz combines the landscape of Zbudovské Blat with traces of regional history. The Dívčicko area forms a significant part of the historic Zbudovské Blat. At the same time, a marked cycle path and a very easy family loop trail lead to different discoveries. Ponds, biocentre and wetlands

The Dívčické rybníky are designated as a regional biocentre covering an area of 62.59 hectares. The biocentre comprises a mosaic of paths, small meadows and woodland areas, allowing for a great diversity of plant and animal communities. Following settlement in the 11th century, the former wetlands of Zbudovské Blat were gradually converted into pastures, fields and ponds.

The ponds Blatec, Březovec, Nová and Černá are located in the immediate vicinity of Dívčice. The water bodies on the Blata are preferred nesting sites for waterfowl. This part of the landscape is therefore particularly suited to travellers who wish to consciously experience ponds, meadows, woodland areas and the development of a historic cultural landscape.

Family loop trail and Kubata Monument

The “Za památkami a přírodou Zbudovských Blat” trail is a very easy family loop trail. A marked cycle path leads to the Kubata Monument. The monument is located behind the village near Zbudov railway station and was erected in 1904. Dívčice railway station is situated at the junction of the main České Budějovice–Plzeň railway line and the branch line to Netolice.

Historical traces in Zbudov

The historical so-called Dívčice estate included two fortresses, which were built by the Lords of Sudoměř from the end of the 14th century onwards. Zbudov has preserved a relatively high proportion of its traditional built heritage, particularly in its farmsteads. The Zbudov heritage zone protects 19th-century Blata-type farmsteads, including houses Nos. 1, 3, 4, 23, 25, 26 and 27.

The village square in Zbudov is home to the former smithy No. 28 and the former mill complex No. 9. On the other side of the stream are two stones associated with a legend about an execution. Alongside the landscape, these details give the village a distinctive historical and traditional dimension.
