Podesdorf: Cycle Paths, Forests and Historic Buildings

Podesdorf (Bohdalovice) combines an active landscape with remarkable examples of architectural history. The fortress palace is a Renaissance building. Its masonry also incorporates part of the original Gothic fortification wall. Renaissance and Gothic defensive architecture therefore do not stand separately side by side here, but can be read together in a single building. Churches with medieval and Baroque traces

The Church of St Bartholomew also stands in Slavkov. It was built in 1311 and consecrated in 1313. Its architectural history did not end in the Middle Ages, however: in 1800–1801, the church was enlarged, with the nave being added. Its present form therefore combines its early origins with a later extension. In Svéraz, the Church of St Peter and St Paul is already mentioned in records from 1358. The present church was created through a Baroque reconstruction in 1774–1775. Together with the church in Slavkov, it creates a cultural and historical comparison between medieval tradition, later extensions and Baroque remodelling.
