Černýšovice: Nature Monument and Village Culture

Černýšovické jalovce: protected juniper landscape

South of Černýšovice lies the Černýšovické jalovce Nature Monument. It protects a significant population of more than 300 common juniper specimens. Černýšovické jalovce was first placed under protection on January 21, 1988. For orientation on site, it is also noted that the nature monument lies about 300 metres from the Černýšovice–Bechyňská Smoleč road. The bicycle must be pushed for the final approximately 300 metres. Anyone wishing to explore this natural area can therefore already take the approximate distance and final section into account when planning the day.

Watercourse and landscape

The Všechlapský stream runs through the lower part of Černýšovice and flows into the Lužnice to the west. Thus, both the stream in the village and the river landscape outside the village form part of Černýšovice’s geographical character. A local hiking trail runs through the village and allows excursions into the surrounding area.

Village square, bell tower, and pilgrimage

The cultural centre of the village is the Zvonice s kaplí sv. Jana Nepomuckého. It stands at the northern edge of the oval, sloping village square. The Zvonice s kaplí was built around the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries. The addition of the chapel created additional seating. According to local tradition, Černýšovice was founded in 1390. The annual pilgrimage in Černýšovice, held on the second Sunday after the feast of Saint John, is part of the living tradition. During a stay, this makes it possible to combine the village’s historical story with a recurring religious custom.

Cycling in and through Černýšovice

The village also offers specific points of reference when researching cycling trips. The KČT 30-km cycle route runs through Černýšovice. In addition, the “Hrdinové minulé doby” cycling tour follows cycle route 1136 through the village.
