Újezd nad Lesy combines extensive forest landscapes with vivid traces of local history. Particularly characteristic are the two Lesní galerie, historic paths through the oldest parts of the area, and the protected natural areas in the north. This means that, depending on your interests, your stay can take the form of a walk, a longer circular route, a cycling tour, or a cultural and historical exploration.

Forest Trails in Different Formats

Lesní galerie I (“Tam a zpátky za zvířátky”) is a 5 km educational trail through the Blatov forest area. Its 30 stations focus on animals. The trail also includes exercise elements in a forest clearing near Blatov. It therefore combines nature observation and physical activity, so there is no need to pursue these two aspects on separate outings.

A longer option is Lesní galerie II. It runs for 15 km through Cyrilov in the cadastral area of Újezd nad Lesy and is divided into three circular routes. In total, it includes 60 stations and five rest areas. The division into circular routes makes the character of this route clear: it is not just a single short educational trail, but an offering consisting of several sections in the forest area.

Local History on Trails and in the Museum

The Újezdské Muzeum presents the life of three formerly independent municipalities in a permanent exhibition covering the period from the late 19th century to the present day. There are also thematic exhibitions. The museum thus complements the outdoor trails with an insight into the development of the area and its former municipal structures.

The historical puzzle walk “Vycházka s tajenkou historií Újezda nad Lesy” is 4 km long, follows easy terrain along urban streets, and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Another historical puzzle walk with the same title leads through the oldest parts of Újezd nad Lesy. Along the way, you will see villas, the former bathing area, and the former dance hall. The terms “former” and “once” refer to the history of these places and do not describe present-day facilities.

The medieval village of Hol also points to the past of Újezd nad Lesy. It was established in the 14th century and disappeared during the Hussite Wars. To this day, two wells and strips marking field boundaries remain around the former village.

Nature Park and Cycle Path

The northern half of Újezd nad Lesy lies within Klánovice Čihadla Nature Park. Klánovický les Nature Reserve also extends across the cadastral area of Újezd nad Lesy. Thanks to its size, good accessibility, well-maintained paths, and flat terrain, the forest is a popular recreational area for Prague residents. The nature park also contains the Klánovický les – Cyrilov Nature Reserve, covering an area of 397 ha.

For arrival by bicycle, a cycle path along the Běchovický potok is described. It reaches the beginning of Újezd nad Lesy, turns onto Dubinská, and then continues along the bank of a pond. The cycle route thus complements the forest trails and historical walks with another way to explore the area and its surroundings.
