Discover Všepadly

Všepadly combines a manageable landscape with notable traces of local history. The area lies in flat to gently sloping terrain and is particularly suitable for a trip where paths, nature, and historical discoveries stand side by side. A central starting point for orientation is the 34 km-long tourist route M 1 (1411). It leads via Domažlice, Chrastavice, Milavče, Hradiště, Netřeb, and Všepadly onward toward the Klatovy region and Švihov.

Routes and Landscape around Všepadly

A cycle route and a tourist route run through the area and are used to connect places of tourist interest, as well as for hiking and cycling. A secondary road runs through Všepadly; afterwards, cycle route No. 2192 continues to Černíkovo. This makes it possible to combine different forms of travel without reducing the village to a single excursion destination.

A defining landscape and natural feature is Všepadelský rybník in the southern part of the area. The pond is considered a landmark of water management, covers approximately 7.8 ha, and is fed by and associated with the Merklinka stream. It is precisely this contrast between paths and water that gives Všepadly its distinctive landscape profile.

Monuments and Historical Landmarks

Všepadly was first mentioned in 1379. In the centre, between houses No. 13 and 14, stands monument No. 1873. Its inscription reads “Padlým rodákům všepadelským 1914 – 1918”; nine photographs of fallen soldiers are also located there. The monument makes the local history visible at a precisely identified site and complements the village’s older traces with a reminder of the 20th century.

The approximately 2 m-high Všepadly Madonna forms part of the area’s sacred history. The Early Baroque statue comes from the demolished Church of St. Wenceslas in Úboč and is now kept in secure storage. It was formerly located in the Chapel of the Virgin Mary. This rectangular 19th-century chapel stands near Všepadly on a low hill among lime trees, southwest of the village. The connection between the Madonna’s current place of safekeeping and its former chapel should therefore be understood historically, not as an indication of a current exhibition.

Another prominent religious structure is the hexagonal Chapel of St. Wenceslas in Všepadly. It dates from 1775 and has a tent roof. The village’s appearance is further complemented by the “Josefa Hergera” mill, house No. 18, as well as the large Košetice farmstead above Všepadly, whose foundation dates back to the Baroque period. Several buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries also display eclectic design, with raised gables and sculptural façade ornamentation.
