Přimda – Castle, nature trails and swimming pool

Přimda combines impressive history with nature trails through the Upper Palatinate Forest and swimming-pool activities. Castle Ruins, Church and Museum

The ruins of Přimda Castle were declared a national cultural monument by the government in 1962. Its history also has an unusual aspect: Přimda Castle served as a state prison from the very beginning. A visit therefore focuses not only on the medieval castle complex, but also on its state function.

The Church of Saint George stands in the centre of Přimda, on the eastern edge of Republic Square. It preserves masonry from the originally Romanesque nave. An octagonal Gothic stone baptismal font is built into the exterior of the south wall of its church tower – a detail that you can specifically look for when viewing the building.

The Přimda Museum is freely accessible with a key issued at the information centre. Guided tours can also be arranged by prior agreement. The museum is a member of a network of agricultural museums and complements the historical perspective on Přimda with an additional thematic focus.

Nature Trails through History and Nature

The Přimda Castle Nature Trail has 10 interesting stations and 7 interactive educational stations for children. The trail leads through the history and natural attractions of Přimda and its surroundings. At the same time, it runs through the picturesque nature of the Upper Palatinate Forest and alongside natural, geological and historical attractions.

The Přimdská Nature Trail offers a different perspective. It is over 7 kilometres long and has 12 thematic stations covering the history of the town of Přimda and the Kolowrat-Krakowský family. The two nature trails therefore clearly differ: the Přimda Castle Nature Trail combines history with natural, geological and historical attractions, while the Přimdská Nature Trail covers the town's history and the Kolowrat-Krakowský family at 12 stations over 7 kilometres. Several cycling and hiking trails also pass through the town of Přimda. This allows you to choose between a thematically organised trail and other cycling or hiking routes.

Swimming Pool with Water and Relaxation Facilities

Přimda Swimming Pool offers a 25-metre pool with three lanes and a water depth of 1.45 to 1.85 metres. There is also a sauna with a relaxation area and a whirlpool for six people. The swimming pool complements the historical and scenic impressions with time spent enjoying water, warmth and relaxation.
