Dobříč

Dobříč combines landscapes, outdoor activities and local history within a compact area. The village lies on the edge of the Plaská pahorkatina uplands, while the surrounding countryside offers space for relaxation, walks and active leisure. This makes it a destination where a cycling tour, a nature trail, historical details and local events can shape different days of your holiday.

Cycling and the nature trail around Dobříč

The 63 km Baroko III cycling route, which passes through Dobříč, provides clear orientation for active excursions. Its length makes the route a destination in its own right when planning a trip, without requiring individual stages or cycling times to be specified. Those who prefer to explore the area on foot, whether on a walk or hike, can find the Jarovská naučná stezka nature trail in the vicinity of Dobříč. It has 11 stations and is approximately 10 km long.

The Jarovská naučná stezka runs as a circular trail and has a detour to the Rozhledna Radost lookout tower. This sets it apart from a simple connecting route: in addition to the circular trail, the detour is also part of the route described. During a stay, a longer cycling route and a themed circular trail can therefore be considered as different ways to explore the landscape.

Sports and leisure facilities in the village

The Dobříč sports and leisure complex is located on the grounds behind the school. It offers football, tennis, nohejbal, volleyball, beach volleyball, basketball and a children's playground.

There is also an outdoor swimming pool on the western edge of the built-up area of the ZSJ Dobříč.

Sights and traces of local history

Local sights in Dobříč include a timber-framed granary known as a “roubený špýchar”. The birthplace of the painter Václav Karel is also one of the local sights. The two places represent different forms of local memory: the granary points to traditional construction methods and village use, while the birthplace is associated with an artistic personality.

The local history of colour also has several noteworthy details. Natural ochre from the Dobříč deposit was used as a pigment for façade and artists' paints. The mining of paint earth began near the place known as Bílé jámy at the end of the 19th century.

The Church of the Most Holy Trinity has older origins. It was originally dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and was remodelled in the Baroque style after 1700. Those interested in the history of sacred architecture will therefore find here not only the present-day church building, but also indications of its earlier dedication and later Baroque alterations.

Events and further excursion options

The programme of events organised by the municipality of Dobříč includes, among other things, a “pouť”. Beer festivals are also on the programme. The “Z Dobříče k Berounce” tour begins in Dobříč and leads via Koryta, Čivice and Kaceřov.
