Discover Nemcice: Mills, Hiking Trails and Views

Nemcice is a destination for travelers who want to combine historic traces with paths through a varied landscape. Highlights include the Brachtlův Water Mill, marked hiking and cycling trails, and hills offering wide views. When planning your stay, you can choose between cultural details in Němčice, peaceful walks and more active explorations. The special appeal lies in the alternation between individual local destinations and paths through the open countryside. This allows you to combine cultural stops with outdoor activities without limiting your stay to just one type of excursion.

Water Mill and Historic Village Scenes

The former Brachtlův Water Mill, house number 7, is located on a millrace of the Zlatý pásek stream and is a protected cultural monument. Partially preserved technical equipment dates from the late 19th century through the 1940s. At the mill, the millrace, its historic use and the preserved technical elements come together to provide a tangible insight into the local past. The mill is part of a larger historical context: Along the Zlatý pásek, there is now a historic mill system consisting of eight mills; in the past, there were nine mills.

Němčice itself is also home to distinctive reminders of the village's history. A chapel dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, dating from 1883, stands there. The village also contains a unique former wooden coach inn with a shingle-covered mansard roof. These two buildings give a visit to the village different historical accents.

Marked Trails for Walks and Cycling Tours

The marked cycling route 4145 runs from Sloupnice via Vlčkov and Němčice (Člupek) to Svinná. For hikers, a marked green trail runs through the eastern part of Němčice along road III/35851 in the direction of Přívrat. A marked blue hiking trail also passes through Němčice and leads to the hamlet of MANDLU. The selection of trails covers different ways of getting around: The cycling route connects several villages, while the two marked hiking trails lead to different destinations in the surroundings of Němčice.

At Končiny, a pilgrimage chapel of the Virgin Mary stands beside a spring. A Stations of the Cross is located next to the pilgrimage chapel. This allows you to combine walks through the surrounding area with additional cultural destinations, rather than viewing the landscape merely as a passageway.

Hills, Forests and the Zlatý pásek

The Kolouška hill lies above Němčice at an elevation of 394 m and offers a wide view over the Svitavy District. From Zhořský kopec, at an elevation of 542 m, the view extends across the Litomyšlsko region as far as Vysoké Mýto. At 394 m, Kolouška is lower than the 542 m-high Zhořský kopec; the two elevations therefore offer different vantage points over the surrounding area. The area around Zhořský kopec is frequently visited by cross-country skiers in winter.

The surroundings of Člupek offer walks through forests and to the valley of the Svinná. The sources of the Němčický potok stream are located near Člupek. This stream is also called Zlatý pásek and is a watercourse that connects several of the historical and natural features of the surrounding area.
