Educational Trails for Curious Explorers

Kukyho les is particularly engaging: an approximately 1-kilometre educational trail that follows a circular route through Březiny and is aimed primarily at children. Eight interactive stations make the route varied. They include water mills, a tilting map with a ball, Hergotův domeček, and Hergotmobil. The site combines physical activity with hands-on play and discovery elements, without turning the short circular route into a mere sightseeing visit.

The Březiny Literary Educational Trail leads from Bělisko to Drašarova lípa. Its five stations present information about the Vysočina region, traditional crafts, and the work of the writer Terezie Nováková and the composer Bohuslav Martinů. Anyone wishing to combine a walk with regional cultural and literary history will find a second route here within the village, with a different focus.

Traditional Crafts and Visible Village History

Březiny’s traditional folk architecture includes simple, whitewashed cottages and farmsteads. The Chapel of Saint Roch stands in the centre. The history of work is also present in the village: around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, residents of Březiny processed flax fibres into linen. The Berkovna glassworks was established in Březiny as early as 1696.

Various exhibitions of paintings and photographs were held in the former school building in Březiny during the summer. The village’s regular programme also includes Pohádkový les, as well as tournaments in nohejbal, floorball, volleyball, and table tennis. Sýry z Březin provides a local taste: the business produces fresh and matured cheeses, yoghurt, and quark from cow’s milk.

Lunáčkova lípa and the Landscape around Březiny

A notable natural landmark is Lunáčkova lípa, a small-leaved lime tree more than 300 years old. The tree is 30.5 metres high and has a trunk circumference of 602 centimetres. It can be reached via a green-marked hiking trail. The precise measurements make the old lime tree not merely a name on a map, but a clearly identifiable destination for a hike through the landscape of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands.

Březinská padesátka also adds a strong focus on active stays. It is a 50-kilometre running competition through the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands, organised by the municipality of Březiny since 2015. Together with the educational trails, the marked path to Lunáčkova lípa, and the sports tournaments, it shows Březiny as a place where nature, physical activity, and village life stand closely alongside one another.
