Bohuňov – between nature park, church and waterfall

Bohuňov combines nature, local history and specific excursion destinations within a compact thematic area. The village lies in the Údolí Křetínky Nature Park and stretches along both banks of the Křetínka River. The present-day Church of St. Giles was built in 1820–1821 in the Empire style. Inside are fourteen Stations of the Cross dating from the first half of the 19th century; the creator is unknown. This combination of clearly dated architecture and furnishings by an unknown artist makes the church an independent topic in the village’s cultural history.

Bohuňov’s history goes back further in written records: the first written mention dates from 1382. Another historical feature lies outside the church. On the left-hand side of the road from Bohuňov to Vítějeves stands a sandstone cross stone bearing a double relief of a Latin cross facing west.
