Týnišťko – Chapel, Pond and Trails in a Czech Village

In the village green, a chapel with a bell tower stands in a park. It is a pseudo-Gothic building whose bell tower was constructed in 1838. Following recent restoration work, the chapel was in good condition. For families who enjoy combining small historical discoveries with observations of nature while traveling, many points of interest come together here in a compact thematic area.

Culture on the Village Green

In front of the chapel stands a stone cross on a four-sided sandstone pedestal; a fence surrounds the monument. A sandstone war memorial is also located near the chapel. It depicts a soldier with a lion in relief and bears the names of those honored. The memorial to the people of Týnišťko who fell in the First World War was erected in 1923 with ten names and restored and renovated in 2004.

Another historical detail is the rural homestead No. 8. It is the only protected cultural monument in Týnišťko; it was placed under protection in 2005. On the southeastern edge of the built-up area, a former mill stands on the Loučná. Today it serves as a small hydroelectric power station, preserving a visible connection between its former use and its present-day function.

Pond and Landscape

Týnišťko Pond, formerly also known as Leknínáč, lies about 300 m northwest of the village center and covers 0.94 hectares. It is the only significant permanent body of water in the area described here. A smaller part of the pond lies within NRBC 10 Uhersko, while the larger part lies within LBK 1.

One restriction is important for getting around the area: parking motor vehicles on the dam of Týnišťko Pond is prohibited. The pond therefore cannot be planned as an arbitrary parking spot for an excursion. Rather, its location northwest of the center forms a distinct landscape point within the village surroundings.

Cycling and Hiking around Týnišťko

Nationally marked cycle route 4237 passes through Týnišťko. It runs via Uhersko, Trusnov, Radhošť, Dobříkov, and Sruby between the Uhersko junction and the Sruby junction; the total route length is 15 km. In addition, a newly marked cycle route passes through Týnišťko, connects the Holicko and Vysokomýtsko microregions, and links up with other routes in the surrounding regions.

Týnišťko is also connected to a marked network of trails for walking. A blue-marked hiking trail runs from Zámrsk railway station past the northeastern edge of Týnišťko's built-up area to Horní Jelení, where it branches. Zámrsk railway station is about 1.5 km on foot from Týnišťko and lies on the national railway line 010 between Prague, Kolín, Pardubice, and Česká Třebová. The local bus network also includes a stop on road I/35.
