Miřetice U Nasavrk

Miřetice U Nasavrk combines small cultural monuments with an unusually dense history of remembrance. Discovering Miřetice’s cultural history

The late Baroque Chapel of the “Nejsvětější Trojice” from 1761 is the main attraction. It stands on the outskirts of Miřetice near a road. Inside, a wall painting shows a seated sick person under a tree, with a woman bringing food on a pitchfork. Alongside its date, this unusual motif gives the building a particularly vivid, human dimension.

Other places of remembrance include the “Kameny zmizelých – rodina Krausova” monument. It is located at Miřetice 1 in a clearing in front of house no. 187. In the Majlant district, there is also the “Pomník Čeněk Zach” monument in a spruce forest about 130 m south of the last house. Its precise location makes clear that these memorial sites cannot be combined into a single complex, but are situated at different places in the village and its districts.

The monuments commemorating the history of war and resistance are also part of Miřetice’s character. The “Pomník Obětem 1. a 2. světové války” monument commemorates those who fell in 1914–1918, as well as Karel Svoboda, who was executed for helping and sheltering radio operator Jiří Potůček. At Na Perku, the “Pomník Obětem 2. světové války” monument commemorates the drop of the 17-member Soviet Jana Kozina parachute group, the founding of the L. Svoboda partisan regiment and those who fought against fascism.

Ležáky near Miřetice

The present-day Ležáky Memorial Site is located in the Chrudim area near Miřetice and provides another focal point for a culturally oriented stay. An important distinction for your planning is the current difference between the individual offerings: the Ležáky Memorial Museum has been completely closed to visitors since June 2026 until the reconstruction is completed. The multimedia exhibition “Ležáky, osada, která nemlčela...” presents the life and fates of the settlement’s inhabitants and its destruction. The museum also includes a screening room where a documentary film about the tragedy of Ležáky can be shown; because the museum is completely closed, however, this information should not be taken to mean that it is currently possible to visit.

A separate visiting opportunity is offered by the “Ležáky. Osada hrdinů” exhibition in the mini-gallery at the Ležáky Memorial Site. It is open to visitors Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 17:00, with free admission. This means that the memorial site can be included in your travel plans even when taking the museum’s reconstruction into account.

An annual connection to Majlant

The annual Ležácký Memorial is a competition for pupils in the first and second stages of primary schools. The official start takes place above Majlant; the municipality of Miřetice provides financial support for the event. For families with school-age children, this event shows another connection between the village, its culture of remembrance and present-day community life, without reducing the nature of the competition to an ordinary excursion.
