Klešice Between Village History and Open Landscapes

Klešice combines a clearly recognizable village history with flat to gently rolling surroundings of meadows and fields. The first documented mention of Klešice dates from November 5, 1257. This date forms the historical starting point for a village character that makes its history visible in several places.

The former granary stands in the former manor farm of Klešice and is known as a “špejchar.” Here, the term does not refer to a new building at all, but points to its former function and its former connection with the manor farm. Another striking piece of small-scale architecture is located at the turnoff to the village: there stands a masonry Boží muka in the form of a column with a double cross above a tiled roof. The Boží muka in Klešice were part of a project to repair and clean monuments and structures.

A masonry bell tower stands on the village square in front of the municipal office. Together with the former manor farm and the Boží muka, it creates not a single sightseeing point but a sequence of different village details. Distinctive features can also be found beyond the village square: On the road from Heřmanův Městec to Jezbořice stands a house with an indicated wooden half-timbered structure. Another statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is located on the railing of the bridge over the stream.
