Hojesin: Castle Park, Walks and Culture

Hojesin between Castle Park, Water and Culture

If you are looking for a place with traces of history, quiet park paths and an excursion to the water, Hojesin offers several different points of interest. The focal point is the castle park of Zámek Hoješín. It combines walks, peace, prayer and various details to discover during a visit.

A Rococo Château and a Diverse Park

The château of Zámek Hoješín, originally built in the Rococo style, was constructed by Karel Josef Schmiedl ze Schmieden in 1750. The castle park of Zámek Hoješín provides space for walks, prayer and peace. It includes an orchard, an apiary, utility buildings, a stone garden planted with flowers and a pond. These different elements give the park a distinctive character: you can combine historic architecture with impressions of gardens and landscapes instead of visiting just a single building.

The castle park also has an area for children. The QR code route at Zámek Hoješín is suitable for families and all age groups. The children's area and the QR code route add a different emphasis to the park than prayer and peace. The route is not limited to a specific age group. Thus, alongside a quiet stay, there is also an explicitly intergenerational way to experience this place. For planning purposes, Hojesin is especially interesting if you want to bring together different paces and interests during an excursion.

Walks to the Reservoir and Along the Hiking Trail

An interesting walk leads to the inflow of Seč Reservoir, where the Chrudimka flows into the reservoir. In the park, architecture, gardens and peace are the focus; at the inflow, the landscape, river course and reservoir come together to create a different excursion destination for walks. The destination combines a path through the landscape with the inflow as a clearly defined point on the water: you can see where the river enters the reservoir. Another point of orientation is the Jewish cemetery near Hoješín. It can be reached from Hoješín via a local road, and a red-marked hiking trail runs along it.

Chapel, Stucco Remains and a Place of Peace

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity is located in Hoješín, a district of Seč. The chapel contains the last remaining pieces of the stucco decoration. It therefore adds a specific art-historical detail to the visit. Since June 2021, Dům sestry Elišky has been open to families and everyone who comes to rest and replenish their physical and mental strength.
