Kosov between Nature Park and Local History

Kosov combines a distinctive natural setting with traces of local history. Březná Nature Park extends across the entire administrative territory of Kosov. Within this nature park, the Březná and Moravská Sázava rivers form distinctive, deep and symmetrical valleys. The valley shapes give the landscape a pronounced relief and make the natural area interesting for walks with views of the river courses. If you are looking for accommodation in Kosov, this provides a specific thematic framework for your planning: nature, marked trails and cultural monuments are at the heart of local exploration.

Hiking and Cycling in the Nature Park

Březná Nature Park is accessible via marked hiking trails. The 18-kilometre cycling route “Na kole po památkách” passes through Kosov. In Kosov, it follows the red-marked hiking trail through the village. For planning your day, you can regard the cycling route as a specific itinerary, while the red-marked route provides orientation within the village area. The route length creates a clear framework without specifying a particular duration or level of difficulty; this leaves you free to arrange the outing at your own pace. Hiking and cycling therefore offer two different ways of exploring the area.

Chapels and Cultural Monuments in Kosov

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk is one of the immovable cultural monuments in Kosov. Construction began in 1868, and it was consecrated three years later. A small chapel near the so-called Blažek Farmstead is also considered one of the notable religious monuments in Kosov. In addition, a small chapel in Kosov has been a cultural monument since 2016; it dates from the first half of the 19th century. The three chapels differ in their historical dating and monument status. This makes it possible to distinguish, for a focus on cultural history, a building consecrated in 1871, a religious monument near the so-called Blažek Farmstead, and a cultural monument dating from the first half of the 19th century that has held this status since 2016.

Historic Buildings and Time-Limited Access

The built heritage includes the log-house property Kosov No. 80. It has a shingle roof and dates from the first half of the 19th century. In 2024, access to the rooms of the Kosovská rychta was subject to a time-limited arrangement: they were accessible from June to September by prior telephone or written agreement. For planning purposes in 2024, access was therefore tied to a specified period and prior arrangement. Alongside the chapels, a historic property with its own architectural character thus also forms part of the local history.

Public Transport and Further Orientation

Kosov has public bus services within the Integrated Transport System of the Olomoucký kraj Region. The stops are called “Kosov, rest.” and “Kosov, ZD”. Anyone using the bus in the village can use these two stop names for orientation. In addition to natural and cultural destinations, public transport is therefore also part of the practical framework for a stay in Kosov.
