Stavenice between the Morava, forest, and culture

Stavenice is a place where the landscape, river, and cultural heritage sites are described as being in close proximity to one another. Hradisko-Hradiště is also known as U Josefa and is located on Hradisko Hill above the left bank of the Morava in Doubrava Forest, although it is already within the cadastral area of Stavenice. There are also monuments in the built-up area of the village and a short section of Cycle Route 51. If you are planning a stay connected with nature and regional history, you will find several clearly distinguishable points of interest here.

Hradisko-Hradiště: Traces from the 10th to the 13th century

Archaeological finds date Hradisko-Hradiště to the 10th century. Pottery finds also indicate that the site was used in the second half of the 13th century. The burial ground is also of interest for understanding the history of the area: it comprises a group of mounds of varying sizes. In 1953, 19 mounds were identified; a later field inspection found at least seven mound embankments. Several traces of different historical periods therefore coexist at this site, without the individual findings having to be assigned to a single era.

Protected landscapes and clear rules

Part of the cadastral area of Stavenice lies within the Litovelské Pomoraví Protected Landscape Area. The Doubrava Nature Reserve also includes cadastral land belonging to Stavenice. For your stay, the different protection designations are just as important as the regulations in force there: In the Doubrava Nature Reserve, driving cars into the area, camping, picking plants, and collecting or disturbing animals are prohibited. If you are planning to explore the landscape, familiarizing yourself with the applicable rules is part of the preparation.

Monuments in the built-up area

Near House No. 48 stands a unique folk sculpture from 1816 in the Empire style. The stone cross was reconstructed in 2009. The crucifix with Christ is complemented by a Madonna with two angels and a relief of Saint Mary Magdalene. The Boží muka in the western part of Stavenice, between Houses No. 1 and 40, date from the end of the 18th century and were reconstructed in 2011. A Boží muka in the built-up area is exceptional because of its size and is visually impressive in its design. In the Chapel of St. Florian, there is an image of Saint Florian above the altar. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore orient the focus of your stay toward the village monuments or the protected landscapes.

Cycle Route 51 and other places to consider

The short section of Cycle Route 51 on Road III/31540 passes through the area of Stavenice toward Třeština. The route connects, among other places, Mohelnice and Třeština. If you would like to compare pages for other places in addition to Stavenice, you can also view Police, Rejchartice, Bohuslavice Nad Moravou, Olšany, Postřelmůvek, Líšnice U Mohelnice, Potůčník and Hoštejn.
