Horní Studénky Among Hills, Trails and Water

Horní Studénky lies in a gently rolling hilly to upland landscape. Permanent grasslands alternate with forests on steep slopes and in valleys; the valley floors are cool and humid. For your travel planning, this makes it a place where you can give different emphasis to culture, trails and water destinations. Horní Studénky is accessible by bus and car. Families planning days together around different interests will find several specific points of interest here rather than just a single excursion destination.

Marked Trails with Different Destinations

Three marked hiking trails run through the municipality. The blue hiking trail leads to the Church of Saint Leonard in Horní Studénky and leaves the village via Příčnice toward Klášterec. The red hiking trail runs north of Králova hora through a valley to Sychrov Pond and continues from there to Jakubovice. Cyclists will also find fixed points of orientation: Cycling Route 6229 comes from Jedlí in a southwesterly direction, passes through Horní Studénky and the church, and continues via Sychrov toward Písařov. Cycling Route 6231 comes from Štíty to Horní Studénky and runs through the municipality. This provides different options for planning a day: a church visit, a valley trail to the pond, or a route via Sychrov and the neighboring villages. The two cycling routes complement these destinations with connections from Jedlí and Štíty, as well as the continuation toward Písařov.

Culture and Local Tradition

The Church of Saint Leonard was built in its present form in 1666. With its surrounding wall and ambits, it is a registered immovable cultural monument. The ambits were built in 1734 to protect pilgrims from bad weather. The column with a statue of the Most Holy Trinity in Horní Studénky is also a registered immovable cultural monument. At the lower end of the village there is also a rustic chapel made from a tree trunk, which is associated with a local legend about the fortunate discovery of a statue of the Virgin Mary.

Reservoir, Pond and Game Enclosures

The reservoir lies outside Horní Studénky in the direction of Svébohov. It is used for fishing and also serves people from the surrounding area for swimming. At the other end of the village there is a pond created in 1964, measuring 1.26 hectares, which is used for fish farming. It is located about 1 kilometer beyond the Myslivecká chata. There are also two game enclosures in the immediate surroundings: one for keeping deer and one for keeping fallow deer and mouflon. In addition to the cultural monuments, this provides several clearly distinguishable natural destinations for your travel planning.
