Discover Klokoci: Hiking Trails, Cycling Route and Village Traditions

Klokočí between Hiking Trail, Cycling Route and Village Tradition

Klokočí is a place for travelers who want to combine nature and local history on one trip. Cycling Route No. 6173 runs through the village toward the final foothills of the Oderské vrchy as well as Radíkov and Středolesí. The green hiking trail crosses the Bečva, passes the Bukoveček Nature Reserve, and continues through the valley of the Krkavec stream to Teplice nad Bečvou. This allows you to choose between the cycling route and the hiking trail as two different focal points for your trip.

From Teplice nad Bečvou, the same green hiking trail continues to the Hranická propast, described as the deepest gorge in Central Europe. This continuation thus opens up an additional stage for hike planning. Teplice nad Bečvou and the Hranická propast can be included as a connected additional focal point in a nature-focused day itinerary.

Historical Traces in the Village

The village's history includes an old farmstead arranged in a square, enclosed layout, one of the oldest buildings in Klokočí. Until 1923, it belonged to Countess Antonii Althanové. A small wooden bell tower has also been preserved in Klokočí. Alongside the trails, both details give the village a historical dimension that you can connect directly with a stay in the village.

Traditions with Local Character

The customs also give Klokočí its own character. The volunteer fire brigade organizes the traditional Vodění medvěda procession. It is an annual tradition in which a bear dances at the residents' doors. At Klokočské srandobraní 2023, the local tradition was revived after an interruption of several years; the festival also included horseback rides. The horseback rides give the festival a different character from a day shaped by trails and landscape. This makes it possible to plan the local culture as a separate focal point alongside nature and activity.

Hills, Mountains and Destinations in the Wider Area

Nad Doly [Hranice-Slavíč] is a hill in the vicinity of Klokočí. In the wider regional area are Jindřichovský vrch, Růžový Kopec and Kelčský Javorník, which are recorded as mountains. Vildštejn and Zřícenina Lukov, listed as ruins, are also located there, as is Svatá Marie, listed as a church, and the chateau park of Holešov. When planning, you can distinguish the nearby hill from the mountains, ruins, church and chateau park in the wider regional area. This creates a clear alternation between landscape and cultural destinations.

In the center of Klokočí, the U Jarky restaurant offers refreshments to cyclists and hikers before they continue on their routes. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore weigh whether to focus your stay primarily on the trails through Klokočí and the surrounding area or on the village's history and traditions.
