Discover Děhylov: Culture, Water and Trails

Děhylov combines the landscape of the Nízký Jeseník with water, culture and varied trails. The village lies on the northern slopes of one of the easternmost foothills of this mountain range. At the same time, the Opava flows through a landscape of ponds, floodplains and wetlands. Ponds, Floodplains and Special Habitats

One of the notable bodies of water is Žabinec, one of Děhylov’s two large ponds. It has been mentioned since the 17th century. Another landscape formation is the Děhylovský potok–Štěpán locality on the boundary between the municipality of Děhylov and the city of Ostrava. It lies on the right bank of the Opava and consists of a pond basin in the broad, flat floodplain, the Děhylovský potok stream and adjacent wetlands.

This habitat is also interesting because of its wildlife. Fire-bellied toads, weatherfish and yellow-winged darters occur in the locality. The Jilešovice-Děhylov area also includes Poštovní rybník.

Cycle Path, Natural Harbour and Sunday Music

A cycle path runs along the Loděnice, following the right bank of the Opava. The Loděnice itself is an excursion restaurant with an outdoor area in a picturesque location on the Opava. Paddlers stop at the natural harbour near the Loděnice. This makes the site a meeting point for a route along the river, time spent outdoors and a place for water sports.

The Loděnice also has its own musical tradition: every Sunday, free music in various styles has been played there for all visitors for more than 30 years. For planning your day, this creates a clear contrast between an active stay by the water and a Sunday visit with music.

Paths through Forests, Fields and History

The Háj–Děhylov hiking route follows green-marked paths through Dobroslavice to Děhylov railway station. In addition, there is a 2.5 km nature trail that leads back to Děhylov through the forest and between fields. Nine stations provide information about Dobroslavice and Děhylov, the history of the park, as well as fauna, flora and rocks.

Cultural Monument and Chapel

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Děhylov is a protected cultural monument. Services are still held there today. Separate from it is the Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, which was built in 1726.

Getting There and Other Places to Choose From

Děhylov railway station is located on the Opava–Ostrava railway line. On an excursion, bus route 75 ran from Ostrava,Poruba,VŠB-TUO to the Děhylov, železniční stanice stop. For choosing your location, the connection to the railway station is therefore a specific point of reference.
