There, historic glassmaking, a prominent landmark, a circular trail and a 12.5 km cycling and hiking excursion come together. In the wider surrounding region, castles, churches, a ruin, mountains and a waterfall complete the picture. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore decide whether cultural traces, walking and cycling routes or landscape destinations should be the focus of your research.

Glassmaking, Chapel and Tomášův kříž

The glassmaking craft of the glassworks gave the emerging settlement its name, Sklenařice. In connection with the historic glassmaking, a glass-coated stone and glassmakers' pans made from roughly hewn stones were found. In 1376, the Quayserova glassworks supplied glass for the construction of the local church by the canon Hanuš from Hlohov. Another historical trace is the Chapel of St. Anne: In 1880, the 64-year-old farmer František Metelka from house no. 25 built the chapel on his property. It was consecrated on 1 August and provided with an endowment. Tomášův kříž is known locally and in the surrounding area as a landmark and stands on the hills of Sklenařice known as “Tomášova vrcha”.

Circular Trail through Sklenařice

The walking route “Views of the Krkonoše Mountains and Sklenařice with a Stop at the Swimming Pool” runs as a circular trail through Sklenařice and passes blockhouses. The route also includes a visit to the local outdoor swimming pool; use of it is at your own risk. The tourist cycling and hiking excursion “Trip via Vysoké nad Jizerou and Sklenařice to Tomášovy vrchy” is 12.5 km long. The circular trail connects several points within Sklenařice: the route through the village, the blockhouses and the visit to the outdoor swimming pool. By contrast, the 12.5 km cycling and hiking excursion includes Vysoké nad Jizerou and Tomášovy vrchy, giving you a clear route framework for planning your day locally. When choosing the day for your excursion, you can therefore weigh up whether you prefer stops within the village or an excursion with a set distance in kilometres.

Cycling Route and Regional Landscape

The cycling route “To Harrachov for the Mammoth Ski Jump” leads from Sklenařice via Čermákovy Rovně, Rejdice, Příchovice, Horní Polubný and “Mejto” to Harrachov and back; Harrachov is at kilometre 17 on the indicated route.
