Peřimov: Jizera, Strážník and Folk Architecture

Peřimov lies on the Olšina stream at the foot of the Giant Mountains, west of Jilemnice. The elongated, open valley creates a distinctive landscape impression: along the western edge of the cadastral area, the lower course is bordered by the Jizera. For your trip planning, this creates an interesting combination of river landscapes, natural monuments, historic buildings and regional events.

A prominent reference point is the Strážník locality, located 2 km southwest of Peřimov. It includes both the area of the national natural monument and the rocks at the summit of Strážník. A unique crystallographic form of quartz, known as star quartz, is protected there. This makes the site a special natural-history discovery in the surroundings of Peřimov.

For orientation, it is important to note that the Strážník locality can only be reached by car with an access permit. The access road comes to within approximately 250 m of the locality. Anyone wishing to include this natural area in their day plan should therefore take this specific access rule into account. South of Peřimov lies the 509 m-high Hrobka hill, adding another topographical feature to the landscape.

Bridge, Farmsteads and Historic Traces

The road bridge over the Jizera is a reinforced-concrete bridge dating from 1912. It connects the two banks of the Jizera in the cadastral areas of Peřimov and Dolní Sytová. It is therefore not only a crossing over the river, but also a tangible testament to the history of local infrastructure.

Several preserved buildings also give Peřimov an architectural profile. The cottage No. 16 is a registered cultural monument and a timber-framed building. Alterations at the turn of the 1960s and 1970s changed its original character; a large living room and a high-quality gable finial have survived. The “Na Skalí” farmstead No. 76 was built in 1847. It stands on steeply sloping terrain above the local stream and is considered a high-quality example of folk architecture of the developed chamber-and-stall type.

The former Lukšův mlýn mill is also located along the road between Peřimov and Mříčná. The technical heritage site displays features of late Neoclassicism from the mid-19th century. Its designation as a former mill site is explicitly part of its historical classification.

Events and Local Traditions

Peřimov also showcases its local character through documented events. “Pouť kolem Peřimova” is a walking and running event held almost entirely along the municipal boundary. For 2025, it is documented as taking place on 2 August; in the 2026 event calendar, it was listed for 1 August. From 1 to 3 August 2026, the Peřimovská pouť included a festival event on Saturday, the traditional pilgrimage on Sunday and a concluding end-of-festival celebration on Monday.

Culinary and cultural events are also part of the local character. The traditional pork feast “Vepřové hody” took place on 4 October 2025 from 2 p.m. at V Klubu in Peřimov; it was hosted by the Peřimov Volunteer Fire Brigade SDH Peřimov. On 14 June 2026, the Na Peříčku children’s ensemble performed the play “Pohádky z Krakonošovy zahrádky” at 4 p.m. in the covered area of V Klubu.
