Bukovina U Čisté – Log Cabins, Landscape and Local History

Bukovina U Čisté is a valley settlement with a clearly recognizable landscape and cultural-historical character. In its upper part, it borders Studenec; to the east, the valley continues toward the municipality of Dolní Kalná. The landscape and nature in the surrounding area are picturesque and relatively little affected by human intervention. The highest areas of Bukovina U Čisté offer views of the Giant Mountains. Log Cabins and a Distinctive Settlement Form

A significant part of the village character consists of the preserved traditional log cabins. Two areas south of the stream are considered particularly noteworthy. There, log cabins and farm buildings blend picturesquely into the terrain, in a way that is now rare and undisturbed. This arrangement is typical of a foothill settlement and makes the architectural style an important part of the local identity.

One of the specific historical landmarks is Cabin No. 20 in Bukovina U Čisté, a listed building. It therefore represents not only the traditional architectural form, but also the documented protection of an individual building. The history of the settlement goes back a long way: the first written mention of Bukovina U Čisté dates from 1386.

Landscape Features and Small Discoveries

The Hekovy linden trees also give the surrounding area a precise, unmistakable detail. They are three large-leaved lime trees with trunk circumferences of 445, 460 and 490 cm. The different measurements make it clear that this is not merely a general reference to old trees, but to three individually recorded lime trees.

Another historical landmark in Bukovina U Čisté is a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The statue dates from 1776. Together with the first written mention, the listed cabin and the preserved log cabins, it creates a village character in which nature observation and cultural history are conveyed not through separate excursion destinations, but through various specific features of the same place.

Nature Area, Sports and Culture

The nature area in Bukovina U Čisté was established in 1980. Historically, it served as a venue for social and cultural events, including concerts, children’s days and gatherings of former residents. The Přírodní areál includes a hard court used for locally significant tennis, volleyball and fistball tournaments. The area has a capacity of 1,000 people and can be rented. Its former use thus brought together cultural events, children’s activities and gatherings of former residents; the hard court adds tennis, volleyball and fistball to this range of activities.

The cultural center in Bukovina U Čisté is used for fire brigade balls and children’s balls, concerts, discussion events, dances and wedding celebrations.
