Čistá u Horek: Ridge, nature trail and local history
Čistá u Horek combines a distinctive landscape with small historical discoveries. The volcanic ridge of Čistecká Hůra runs along the southern edge of the village. Its summit reaches 587 metres above sea level and, in good visibility, offers views of the surrounding foothill valleys and from Zvičina via Kozákov to Ještěd. Čistá u Horek is therefore not only about local history: the landscape itself also gives your journey a distinct character.
Landscape and excursions around Čistecká Hůra
Krkonošská vyhlídka is a natural destination for walks and excursions. The Krkonošská vyhlídka nature trail was established around Čistá u Horek in 2012. Cyclists from the surrounding area also visit this destination.
A distinctive feature in the lower part of Čistá u Horek is Taliány, a cascade system above a pond. The ridge marks the southern edge of the village, while Taliány lies in the lower part and was built above a pond. Its origin is closely connected with a historical event: in 1897, Italian workers built Taliány as protection against a flood wave following a devastating flood. The site is therefore not only part of the local landscape but also tells of a specific response to the forces of nature at that time.
Church, monuments and rural architecture
In the village, the Church of St Procopius provides a further link to the history of Čistá u Horek. It dates back to a Gothic church and was rebuilt in 1819. Inside, it has a stone baptismal font from the late Renaissance, dating from 1611. For visitors who appreciate historical details, several periods of history are found side by side here: its Gothic origins, the 19th-century rebuilding and a surviving furnishing from the late Renaissance.
Boží muka u kostela, a sandstone monument with a crucifix, also stands by the church. It bears the year 1807. Another record of local everyday life can be found in the historic centre of the village: a rural farmstead with house number 17, dating from 1789, stands there.
Distinctive traces in the surrounding area
Mechsteine, also known as “žluťáky”, occur on Čistecké Rovně. This distinctive name belongs to the small, independent discoveries that form part of exploring the landscape.
