Zaskali: Ještěd Nature Park, Cycle Path and Chapels

Zaskali combines nature, paths and cultural attractions in a landscape around Ještěd. The whole of Záskalí lies within Ještěd Nature Park. If you would like to plan your stay so that hiking, cycling and regional discoveries all have a place, you will find specific points of interest here: an excursion along forest paths, Cycle Path 3044, mountains in the surrounding area and several chapels.

Hiking and cycling around Záskalí

The excursion „Through Ještěd Nature Park“ leads from Hodkovice nad Mohelkou via Žďárek, the Javornická Chapel, Javorník and Záskalí back to Hodkovice nad Mohelkou. The route follows forest paths and reveals a less familiar side of Ještěd Nature Park. From the Javornická Chapel, there is a view of Liberec and the Jizera Mountains. When planning a day of hiking, the route combines forest paths, a chapel and views of Liberec and the Jizera Mountains within the same excursion.

Cycle Path 3044 also creates a clear connection: it leads from Liberec via Dlouhý Most, Jeřmanice, Záskalí and Hodkovice nad Mohelkou. If you would like to explore Záskalí by bicycle, this route is therefore a separate point of reference alongside the excursion through the nature park.

Mountains around Zaskali

Several mountains lie in the area around Záskalí: Maršovicky vrch, Ještěd, Černá Studnice and Rozsocha. The four mountains extend the landscape beyond Ještěd; the excursion through the nature park, by contrast, focuses on forest paths and the Javornická Chapel. When planning, you can therefore distinguish between the mountains in the surrounding area and a specific route with views.

Chapels, churches and regional discoveries

Cultural attractions include Valdštejn, a church in the area around Záskalí. The Chapel of the Holy Trinity is a church in the wider regional surroundings of Záskalí. The chapel with the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk is also located directly in Záskalí.

The Chapel of Saint Anne is located in Záskalí, north of Hodkovice, on the road to Liberec. All three chapels in Záskalí were renovated over the course of the existence of the association of people born in or connected with Hodkovice and their friends. The cultural attractions are distributed across Záskalí itself, its surroundings and the wider regional area. In addition, the farmstead at house number 11 in Záskalí–Buršín is one of the other attractions of the village. Anyone wishing to discover an agricultural attraction alongside churches and chapels can consider the farmstead as an additional point of interest.
