Around Kleinskal, striking rock formations, trails through the landscape, culture and experiences on the water come together to create a variety of holiday days. You can reach a historic site on foot, explore a national natural monument, discover regional architecture or plan a paddling tour on the Jizera. On foot to Vranov and further into history

Vranov can be reached on foot from Malá Skála via a 1.5 km red hiking trail. Cars must be left in Malá Skála. The Síň tří císařů has been preserved within the Vranov-Pantheon castle complex. It commemorates the victory of the allied forces over Napoleon in the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig in 1813. This allows you to combine the route with a specific historical destination without limiting yourself to a purely museum visit.

The transport connections also open up another option when choosing your base: Tourist bus route 342 connects Turnov, Malá Skála and Jablonec nad Nisou, offers connections to the railway and allows bicycles to be carried on selected seasonal services. For your planning, this means that in addition to the red hiking trail, connections between several places are also available.

Rocks, mountains and water on the Jizera

The Suché skály rock formations are protected as a national natural monument and comprise around 20 rock towers, including Hlavní and Sokolí. Climbing there is suitable both for experienced climbers and complete beginners. The site therefore represents a clear contrast between an impressive landscape and an active activity that appeals to people with different levels of experience.

Those who prefer a day on the water can choose the paddling tour on the Jizera from Malá Skála to Dolánky. It covers 9 kilometres and takes approximately 2 to 3 hours. The Zahrádka viewpoint, which rises 60 m above the river, offers a different perspective on the landscape. The mountains Maršovicky vrch, Černá Studnice and Pustina are also located around Malá Skála; Mariánská hora lies in the wider surrounding region.

Folk architecture and special collections

The Boučkův statek in Vranové is an example of the timbered folk architecture of the Pojizerí region dating from 1813. The building houses a restaurant as well as exhibitions from a museum and a gallery. The Chapel of St Lawrence features an altar by Vladimír Komárek, a Stations of the Cross by Josef Jíra and a glass nativity scene by M. Baudysová.

The Lesní hřbitov is also part of the historic character of the area. It is a Classicist estate cemetery established in 1813 by the then landowner František Zachariáš Römisch. The Valdštejn Church is also located near Malá Skála. The cultural spectrum thus ranges from a single exhibition collection and sacred art to historic sites and architecture.
