Josefsthal – Hiking Trail, Glass and Landscape

Hiking Trail and Activities Along the Way

The shorter version of the Gustava Leutelta educational trail is 5.4 km long and has five stations with information boards. The length of the route and the fixed sequence of stations give the hike a clear structure. The Čertí stezka offers a different task. After completing it, visitors receive a reward at the information center if they have correctly filled in the crossword puzzle and presented all the stamps collected along the way. The activity combines movement with a specific search task. On an outing with children, collecting the stamps can provide a shared focus alongside covering the route. The task therefore requires attention throughout the route and completion at the information center.

Glass, Local History and Theater Culture

At Glass Pesničák in Josefův Důl, you can see traditional glass grinding. This includes cut perfume bottles of the kind produced in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, using original techniques. The local history museum was established in 2010 and is housed in a former school building in Josefův Důl. The events calendar also offers a range of cultural highlights: The J. K. Tyla theater group stages its own productions and guest performances several times a year and organizes the “Josefodolské divadelní jaro” festival for rural theater groups every year. The Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Josefův Důl hosts organ concerts, Christmas concerts and classical music concerts.
